Hiya (that’s English or British for hello)!
This is our blog detailing our life in Durham, England. The little town of Durham, England will be our home for three years while Ben pursues the last of his studies at Durham University. We live in a little neighborhood called Pity Me and we plan on chronicling our English adventures on this blog. To all family and friends this is where you can best keep track of us.
So, as they say here,
Cheers!
Hey Ben and Sarah! Can hardly believe you are half way around the world! How exciting and scary. Praying everything comes together and you have an incredible journey. We’ll miss seeing you around, but know that 3 years will come and go faster than you think. Looking forward to watching this blog progress!
Hi Sarah and Ben,
So happy you are finally there and have a place to live. I have been filled in by talking to your Nana. I can’t believe this site finally came up. Tried for a long time to bring it up, finally gave up and did other things. That was the secret, when I tried to do something else, up it came. So, I will make hay while the sun shines.
Tomorrow Adam and Lauren will be here to help Chuck bring in the boats and my job is to furnish walnut waffles and sausages(surprise) for their reward.
Fall is here and we will return to Salem about the middle of October. We now have a fire in the fireplace. We like that.
We use this time of year to do all our doctor and dental appointments, etc. So, we run to Wenatche at least twice a week. We are looking forward to go back to Salem and our family.
John arrived in Bangkok on Monday. A year ago he bought a new 3 bedroom penthouse condo with a spectacular view. He loves Thailand and plans to be there until Jan. 15. He has developed a new software program & company which he uses to run his 8 offices at Wollborg/Michelson from wherever he is. Skype is part of his program so we can see each other when we talk and it is free. Nice!!
Chuck is just returning with the papers and mail and it’s time for dinner so I best go.
Enjoy your stay in England. Chuck lived in Suliwesi(Dutch Guiena) for 3 years and it was a wonderful experience for him. We have traveled to over 35 countries and have always appreciated that we were able to travel that much. So, do it whenever you can and while you are young and energetic!!
Love, Toody & Chuck
I love all the pink!!!! I want to come visit!
Sarah Dear Love hearing about your new life. Having a blog lets everyone in on the changes. Good use of your time. I wonder if you went for a walk after church today. Take care of yourself. I love you, Nana
Hey Guys!!
Glad to see you have settled in, your place looks cozy. Its cold here in Seattle (big surprise! haha) and the leaves are changing colors, I bet its really pretty in Pityme. I can’t get over how funny the name of the town is! Pityme…more like Pityus for not being there too! haha! I know, I am so funny.
Love the blog idea! Looking forward to your next entry!
Take care guys and have a cup of English tea and crumpets for me!!

Don’t you love fall? It’s beautiful here too. But FYI, the neighborhood is Pity Me but the city is Durham. It’s a little weird, I know. They have an extra part to their address that we don’t have.
Of all things though, Pity Me is pretty funny.
We are back in Salem until the end of April. We packed and drove all day yesterday, arriving at 7PM—exhausted. Ginny and Tracy came over before we arrived and brought a Fall mum and a bunch of goodies. Nice to arrive home to. We can take our time puting things away.
Hope you love Pityme and or Durham and all the British accents that come with them. Will you have time to do some traveling? Now is the time to do it. That is for sure!!!
Do nurses work a 40 hour week in England? Will it be hard to find work?
Toody
So appreciate your notes and pictures. You already seem like professional world travelers. I know the Lord “planted” you there for His special purpose.
Hugs – Jan
Not sure if my original message made it. God an interesting “note”, so apologies if this is a repeat:

Great to see you are blogging so I can keep up with what you two are doing. I miss you both and am sad we weren’t able to meet up while Rachel and I were traveling.
Cheers!
