Yesterday afternoon the sun decided to make an appearance, and when that happens one must take advantage of it. So, we went on one of our favorite walks. I took this great little video, but alas, I can’t upload videos to my blog without paying for it – which I’m not willing to do. So, pictures will have to suffice. This walk is on one of the footpaths through fields which are a bit bare at the moment, & through a farm all with the view of the cathedral in the distance. The crisp air, blue sky & shining sun coupled with the sounds of a little lamb, cows & birds were more than enough to make me feel all is well with the world.
Can you spot the cathedral in the distance?
I just found out today that my job has officially been renewed for another year! My job was only a one year contract & was due to end at the end of February. My boss let me know today that it’s official & my contract is being renewed. It’s nice to know I have a job for another year at least!
It’s been a little hard for me adjusting to working 5 days a week like the rest of the working world. A large part of me misses working three, 12 hour shifts & having four days off a week. 12 hour shifts are tough & you come home completely exhausted, but I like the continuity of care that it allows, and it’s great being able to mentally & physically get away from work. I feel like I spend so much more time at work than I used to, mostly because of time spent getting ready for work & the time spent commuting. But, I am so grateful to have a good job & love that fact that I’m not working night shift. Also, it’s great having 6 weeks of annual holiday a year. And, when I get the winter blues & find myself getting a bit homesick for life in the NW I remind myself how amazing it is that I get to live in such an incredible place & have the opportunity to go the places we go.
And just to remind myself how beautiful this place is, I’m posting one of my favorite views of Durham…
